Cynthia Gomez, MHA, C-TAGME is a Graduate Medical Education leader with more than 16 years of experience in GME accreditation, institutional operations, program administration, program development, and the mentorship and professional development of GME professionals. She began her GME career as a Residency Program Coordinator in New York City and has since served in progressive roles including GME Consultant, Institutional Coordinator, Director of GME, and Associate Corporate Director of GME Accreditation and Operations. Her experience spans academic medical centers, community-based healthcare systems, and multi-institutional GME environments supporting residency and fellowship programs at both the program and Sponsoring Institution levels.

A recognized subject matter expert in ACGME accreditation and compliance, Cynthia has led and supported institutional accreditation efforts, new program development, ACGME site visit preparation, policy and process development, GMEC governance, accreditation readiness, continuous quality improvement, and the development and training of GME teams. Throughout her career, she has partnered with Designated Institutional Officials, Program Directors, faculty, residents and fellows, coordinators, executive leaders, and other key stakeholders to strengthen GME operations and build sustainable educational programs.

One of Cynthia’s greatest professional passions is supporting the people behind GME. Having begun her career as a Program Coordinator, she understands firsthand the importance of providing GME professionals with the knowledge, resources, mentorship, and professional development needed to grow with confidence in their roles. She has trained and mentored Program Coordinators, Program Directors, faculty, and institutional leaders and is passionate about creating opportunities for GME professionals to learn from one another, develop as leaders, and build meaningful professional connections.

Known for her collaborative leadership style and practical approach to problem-solving, Cynthia believes strong GME programs are built through knowledgeable people, effective systems, clear communication, shared accountability, and a commitment to continuous improvement. She enjoys sharing the knowledge and experiences gained throughout her career to support the continued growth and success of the broader GME community.

Outside of her professional work, Cynthia enjoys hiking with her husband and chocolate Lab, spending time outdoors, and relaxing in her backyard with a good book.
