Beyond the Basics: New GME Professional Leadership Accelerator Academy is a six-month, cohort-based professional development experience designed to help new GME professionals build the confidence, judgment, and professional capabilities needed to thrive within the complexity of Graduate Medical Education.
Technical knowledge is essential, but long-term success in GME also depends on the ability to communicate effectively, establish credibility, manage competing priorities, navigate difficult conversations, and build strong professional relationships. Throughout the Academy, participants will explore how to lead themselves and others with greater intentionality while strengthening their emotional intelligence, professional resilience, and ability to respond thoughtfully to challenging situations.
Through guided learning, practical application, reflection, and cohort-based connection, participants will develop strategies for creating healthy professional boundaries, protecting their well-being, and building careers that are both successful and sustainable. Although all GME professionals are welcome, the Academy is especially valuable for professionals within their first three years in GME who are ready to move beyond simply learning the role and begin developing the confidence and professional presence to truly own it.

Participants will progress through a structured curriculum together, creating a true academy experience grounded in shared learning, practical application, and meaningful professional connection. Each month will combine self-paced learning modules, a live Academy learning session, and resources designed to support implementation within each participant’s own program. Throughout the Academy, participants will develop practical tools, strategies, and reflections that will become part of a personalized GME Professionals Leadership Playbook. This evolving guide will serve as both a record of growth and a practical resource that can continue to be used beyond the Academy.
