Leona Caldemeyer, MS, C TAGME, is a Senior Graduate Medical Education Program Administrator at The University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine. With over six years of experience in GME, she has led initiatives to strengthen recruitment strategies, enhance program branding, and improve organizational efficiency across multiple residency and fellowship programs.

Prior to her work in graduate medical education, Leona served eight years in the United States Marine Corps and spent over 15 years in the industrial sector as a chemist and corrosion scientist. This diverse background brings a unique perspective grounded in discipline, analytical thinking, and problem solving to her work in GME.

Leona is a national conference speaker and presenter who has shared her work at AAFP, RMTC, TAFP, NSAMA, and in Rural GME Conference organizations. She is passionate about helping programs tell their story with clarity and purpose, and her work blends creativity with practical tools that empower GME professionals to connect more meaningfully with future physicians.

Outside of her professional work, Leona and her husband of nearly 24 years are raising their teenage son while proudly cheering on their adult daughter and growing family. Her husband is a well-known professional angler, so life outside of GME often includes tournaments, travel, and plenty of time around the water. Leona is also a proud “Lele” to her grandson, with another grandson joining the family soon. Family remains at the center of her life and keeps her grounded, inspired, and never too far from her next adventure.
